'Consignment'
Consignment?
How do I decide what to take in for consignment?
Our policy states that all clothes should be just as you would wish to buy them yourself. By this We don’t just mean high end expensive lines, but We do mean fresh smelling, clean garments with no stains, hardly worn, no holes or rips or tears or any of that. On hangers and pressed too. Does not necessarily have to be designer!
Please note that our standards are very high and that if garments have any odours such as smoke or a musty smell we will not be able to accept them.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of consignment clothes?
The advantages of shopping consignment is that you can find unbelievable classic, smart, elegant and even designer garments at affordable prices. The disadvantage is simply that there won’t be another garment the same in a different size. Although I have come across one black dress, same design, same colour in two different sizes! But more than often there isn’t another garment the same. Which then becomes an advantage! Why? because at a party or wedding for example there is less chance of any one else having the same outfit as you. But guarantee someone with a new high street outfit will, agree!
Can I still be in with fashion with consignment garments?
Very much so. We like to class our consignment garments as ‘icon clothing’. All you have to do is find a style you like from either a magazines or the internet. Cut it out, bring it to me and I am sure we can put something together very similar and for a lot less than in the high street. No doubt about it.
How does it work?
- Have a good sort through your wardrobe.
- Not worn something for over a year and looks as good as the day you bought it!
- Check it is suitable for consignment as mentioned above and in my policy.
- Press it and place it on a hanger.
- Contact us and arrange an appointment (We currently have a long waiting list) from 38 clients when we first opened in December 2009 to currently 770).
- We will ask that you leave a list of items you have to consign and we will call you as and when we need them. This way we only display what we feel will sell.
- When you arrive at the store we will advise you on the kind of prices your items will sell for.
- We discuss a price for each item.
- And the rest is down to us, 40% goes to you.
- It will be the responsibility of the customer to contact Twice A Lady to find out if their items have sold.
- Cheques will be available for collection the first and second week of each month
- Brank transfers work welll with our clients.
- You can also either spend your consignment proceeds back in the store, (If you do so, a 10% discount will be given) take your proceeds or let your money accumulate for that special treat from our boutqiue collection. (Please read our policy) link

Sale and shopping guidelines
- Items are put out daily. Be sure to be early for that special treat.
- If you love it and it is right for you 'buy it' our resale boutique has one of a kind. It may be gone next time you shop.
- Seasonal items arrive sooner than you expect them.
- Don't always go by the shop label, manufactures can be very inconsistent. Try it on, an item can inexpensively be altered. We have an amazing seamstress called Jenny.
- Try it on, we have a No Returns/All Sales Final policy, since the consignor is owed the money as soon as the item sells. If it does not fit when you get home, you will have to give it away, or consign it yourself!
- Bring colours to match when you call in. Since you can't return a purchase. This will enable us to help you more effectively to find something that matches one you already have.
